About Us

Mission Statement

Ray of Hope is a Christian organization dedicated to promoting the sanctity of life, teaching sexual purity, and bringing restoration to women in the midst of a crisis due to an unwanted pregnancy or a previous abortion.

Director's letter

Dear Ray of Hope Friends,

It seems that only a few short weeks ago I was asked to come volunteer with Ray of Hope. I was to help raise funds and do administrative work. And somehow here I am, going on four years, praying for God’s wisdom to work with a dedicated staff and to direct this work in making Ray of Hope a continued blessing to the people of Taiwan.

When I felt the Lord’s leading to be a missionary at nine years old, missionaries would come and tell us stories about beautiful Formosa and the wonderful Taiwanese people. Who would have ever dreamed I would be here, helping hurting, unwed moms? But God took me through valleys in my own life to fill me with compassion for others walking through valleys. Some are shallow, rough, or some have deep and rugged ravines; but we each experience our own valley. Some valleys seem impossible to climb out of. That’s how our moms feel with an unwanted pregnancy.

I’m so thankful for the love of Jesus Christ who came to “set at liberty those that are bruised and to heal the brokenhearted.” If we are able to do that even a little at Ray of Hope, we have succeeded in what Jesus was sent to earth to do.

Thank you for your love and financial support, which keeps our Mama's Caring Home open for unwed moms, our WWF (Worth Waiting For) program teaching sexual purity and the sanctity of life in our Taiwan schools, churches and organizations, our CPC (crisis pregnancy counseling) Department ministering to women in crisis pregnancies and our newest addition--our Ray of Hope Thrift Store providing jobs and training to our mamas and providing for the needy.

I would like to ask you to prayerfully consider supporting Taiwan Ray of Hope on a monthly basis to meet our daily needs, so we can concentrate on ministry. I hope you will partner with us in allowing love and forgiveness of shame, guilt and sin through Jesus Christ to radiate forth through our staff and vounteers; shedding a new ray of hope to the Taiwanese people in beautiful Formosa.

Rescue the poor and helpless; deliver them from the grasp of evil people. Psalm 82:4

History

In Taiwan, an island of 23 million people, doctors tell us over one million babies are destroyed by abortion each year. A recent survey reveals that more than 53% of teens have experienced sex by the time they have finished high school, a figure which has increased four-fold in the past ten years. Premarital sex, teenage pregnancy, and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are increasing at an alarming rate. Today, Taiwan has the lowest birthrate in the entire world,  which Ray of Hope believes is largely due to Taiwan's Eugenic Protection Law.

None of us wants to see our beloved ones struggling with these kinds of crisis and suffering. How much more will our Heavenly Father’s heart grieve for them? His perfect love and mercy stirred a group of missionary women to begin to pray, plan, and organize. Then, in September, 1999 the Ray of Hope Mercy Ministries was born, which is today Ray of Hope Christian Charitable Organization.

What Is Our Vision For The Future?

  1. To train volunteers to take the message of sanctity of life and sexual abstinence into all of Taiwan's schools.

  2. To train volunteers to counsel women in crisis pregnancies; helping care for them before and after they give birth through giving love and teaching classes

  3. To encourage the government to begin using the sanctity of life -based abstinence “Worth Waiting For” curriculum in Taiwan’s schools rather than the currently used “safe sex” curriculum.

  4. To build a "Ray of Hope Village" to house and train our orphaned, homeless, unwed mothers in self esteem, job skills, and the love of Jesus Christ.

  5. To work together with Taiwan's churches in teaching how to care for and support unwed mothers and the sexually abused
